چکیده
Atmospheric brown carbon (BrC) is a kind of organic aerosol that efficiently absorbs ultraviolet-visible light and has an impact on climate forcing. We conducted in-depth field study ambient aerosols at monitoring point in Shanghai, China, aiming to investigate the potential emission sources, molecular structures, contributions absorptions BrC chromophores. The results indicated nine molecules were identified as nitroaromatic compounds, five which (4-nitrophenol, 4-nitrocatechol, 2-nitro-1-naphthol, 3-methyl-4-nitrocatechol, 2-methyl-4-nitrophenol) usually came from biomass burning or produced photo-oxidation anthropogenic volatile compounds (e.g., toluene, benzene) under high-NOx conditions. 4-nitrophenol was strongest chromophore accounted for 13% total absorption λ = 365 nm. estimated black approximately three times value methanol-soluble ratios K+/OC K+/EC, correlations with WSOC, OC, HULIS-C K+, MAE values methanol extracts also primary emissions contributed more compared secondary formation during wintertime Shanghai. Atmospheric lead pollution in fine particulate matter in Shanghai, China.
The Pb-monitoring program was extended for 6 years from 2002 to 2007 at 17 representative urban sites (6 traffic, 5 industrial, and 6 residential sites), and 3 suburban sites to assess the lead pollution in fine particulate matter (PM2.5) after phasing out leaded gasoline in Shanghai. Compared with Pb levels reported in other places, the Pb pollution in Shanghai is still serious after phasing o...
متن کاملAtmospheric ammonia and its impacts on regional air quality over the megacity of Shanghai, China
Atmospheric ammonia (NH3) has great environmental implications due to its important role in ecosystem and global nitrogen cycle, as well as contribution to secondary particle formation. Here, we report long-term continuous measurements of NH3 at different locations (i.e. urban, industrial and rural) in Shanghai, China, which provide an unprecedented portrait of temporal and spatial characterist...
متن کاملPhotochemical processing of aqueous atmospheric brown carbon
Atmospheric brown carbon (BrC) is a collective term for light absorbing organic compounds in the atmosphere. While the identification of BrC and its formation mechanisms is currently a central effort in the community, little is known about the atmospheric removal processes of aerosol BrC. As a result, we report on a series of laboratory studies of photochemical processing of BrC in the aqueous ...
